The first Varsity game played in 1872 at The Parks in Oxford. Two years later, a decision came that the fixture should be played on a neutral ground. And both Blackheath and Kensington became venues before Twickenham was chosen in 1921.

Cecil Boyle is the very first international player to be capped whilst at Oxford. Boyle represented England in 1873 and there have been many fine playerswearing the Oxford Varsity rugby shirt since.

Gareth Lloyd Rees was a Canadian international who played at fly-half and full-back. He played club rugby for Wasps and Harlequins in the UK and won a total of 55 caps for Canada.
