The Australia Rugby Union Shirt Vintage is designed in the memory of the team. The team played its first game against the British Lions touring team in Sydney back in 1899. Played at the Sydney Cricket Ground the Wallabies won by 13–3, but the Lions won the remaining three Tests.

The team number of the team members is six players Queensland players and nine players from New South Wales. The team wore maroon jerseys when playing in Brisbane, Queensland. Also, wore blue shirts when matches were held in Sydney, New South Wales. The page was the Australian Coat of Arms in place of the usual emblems of each colony.

An Introduction to Australia Rugby Union Shirt Vintage

The Australia Rugby Union Shirt Vintage is designed in the memory of the team. The team played its first game against the British Lions touring team in Sydney back in 1899. Played at the Sydney Cricket Ground the Wallabies won by 13–3, but the Lions won the remaining three Tests.

The team number of the team members is six players Queensland players and nine players from New South Wales. The team wore maroon jerseys when playing in Brisbane, Queensland. Also, wore blue shirts when matches were held in Sydney, New South Wales. The page was the Australian Coat of Arms in place of the usual emblems of each colony.

In 1903 Australia played New Zealand for the first time at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The All Blacks won the match 22-3 and the fixture helped spread the game of rugby in Australia. But in 1907 star player Dally Messenger switch from Rugby Union to the newly formed Rugby League. This was a major blow for rugby in the country.

The in 1908 the first Australian team to tour the British Isles left Sydney, Australia. The Press in the UK christened the team ‘The Rabbits’. But the players fought against this and it was replaced by ‘The Wallabies’.

The following year with the “Northern Union” (Rugby League) in Australia, a match proposed between the Kangaroos (Rugby League) and the Wallabies (Rugby Union). And the fixture drew a crowd of approximately 20,000, with the Kangaroos winning 29–26.

During the First World War, all rugby union tournaments in Queensland and New South Wales become cancelled. While so many young men were fighting overseas. Rugby League managed to keep playing and many of the former Rugby Union players switched codes.

Before the war, Sir Edward “Weary” Dunlop became a war hero played in the Australia team. It is the first to win the Bledisloe Cup. In his younger days, he’d played little rugby union, instead of Australian Rules football. The while at university he began to play rugby union – starting in the fourth grade in 1931. He soon progressed through the club at Melbourne University Rugby Club. Then represented the state, and then to the national representative level, becoming the first Wallabies representative born in Victorian.

Dunlop made his international debut against New Zealand on 23 July 1932. He began at Number 8 but switched to Lock Forward for the first Test of 1934. Australia won the match 25–11. Dunlop remained also an accomplished boxer and had broken his nose during a head crash while competing in the Melbourne University boxing championships. It broke again in the first five minutes of the match with New Zealand and the Wallabies. Moreover, it managed a draw in the 1934 Bledisloe Cup series.
